Jacob’s Chance

Jacob’s Chance is a nonprofit service the Central Virginia area. We provide programming for children, teens and young adults with disabilities.

Our Mission:
Jacob’s Chance is a 501c3 organization that is dedicated to promoting wellness for youth and young adults with special needs through athletic programs, social experiences, exercise and healthy lifestyles, education, arts and cultural experiences, volunteerism, community engagement, and skills training.  We want to enrich the lives of children, teens and young adults with disabilities, along with their families, through shared activities, athletics, socialization and education while promoting acceptance, understanding, and inclusion through public awareness.

Participation is nondiscriminatory and anyone can participate regardless of a diagnosis or ability level. No one is turned away if they cannot pay the minimal participation fees. Jacob’s Chance focuses on adapting programs to focus on ability for individuals with intellectual, physical, medical, and developmental disabilities. Sports and recreational programs are offered through a buddy methodology which promotes inclusion for those with challenges to play and socialize along with their more typical peers. Sports, wellness, skills workshops, arts, and social programs are offered throughout the year to promote consistent socialization, community engagement, and physical well-being.
